Secil Natural Hydraulic Lime (NHL) 3.5 — the mortar of choice when modern cement simply won’t do.
NHL 3.5 is the moderately hydraulic, general-purpose grade: strong enough for exposed masonry, soft enough to let a solid wall breathe. If you’re repointing a period property, working with stone, or restoring lime render, this is the grade most specifications call for.
Why lime rather than cement: lime mortar flexes with seasonal movement instead of cracking, and lets moisture escape through the joint rather than trapping it in the stone. On older solid-wall buildings, cement mortar can cause real damage over time.
